I feel like I can go on and on about all of the wonderful things that have happened since Saturday. Firstly, I left the seminar feeling so grounded and so much more aware of all the sights and smells around me. I did not even want to turn my phone back on. In fact, my phone usage has been down by 99% since Saturday. I have deleted my social apps, not the accounts, but I have deleted the apps, and I have also blocked all social media on my work computer. So, the only way I can access them is by firing up my laptop. And as a result, I have stopped scrolling, I have stopped feeling weird about uncomfortable content that I see on TikTok and Facebook. I have stopped comparing myself to others on Instagram. I cleaned my kitchen, I cooked, I have been cleaning, I have been exercising. I feel like I am starting to take my life back. The messages that were shared, the data, the science, were so compelling and awesome to know.

I'm going to give you guys a story. It was a story, but a real fact. After the session, I got in my car in the building. I was supposed to pay $3 for parking, and I stayed one extra minute to try to catch up on my messages. I ended up paying for 3 hours 1 minute, and I could have left the building for three-hour parking instead of trying to check my messages and catch up a little bit with my social media. I stayed 1 minute extra and I end up paying $8 for parking so I'm a victim of the phone situation. I just wanted to say that it cost me money to stay on the phone. I just wanted to drop the joke here because this morning, I was so pissed when I had to pay $8 for parking.

I really enjoyed it tremendously. But I had my mom hat on when I went and I brought my two daughters and I thought, they are going to get some information about them on their phones and when you gave that test, I thought, OH MY GOSH! This is about me too. So it was a wake-up call to me, totally. And I scored higher than my daughters, I'm not kidding. I thought, okay, I hear it, I feel it, I'm on board, and we have had conversations each day since. My family and I are on a mission, so I have to thank you. It's the mindful part that really spoke more than anything. We are going to be in the moment. So thank you for that.

I loved the event! So what I want to talk about are the changes that I noticed in myself when I came into the event. When I came to this event, I thought, "Oh, I don't have an issue with devices, I am really good with my time and not being on social media". But when I left, I realized that I spent more time on social media and on the phone than I thought. I began noticing that when I was on the phone, I became more mindful of the time I was spending on my phone. I think that's the thing I want to say. I was more mindful of my behavior. And then the other thing that I became present to was when Tara told the stories, I was so moved by Caroline and your son's story. I agree with the balance at ReConnect between the intellectual, the scientific, and then the human part. I know it made a huge difference in my life.

I really enjoyed the event. The stories that you shared really connected with me and with most of the audience. We got a lot of practical points and tips on how to minimize or use the tools of the mobile device more effectively. And personally, I also scored a little bit high on the scoring questionnaire, so I'm trying to be more mindful and improve my behavior around WMDs. I went for a couple of walks without taking my phone with me. I have to dig up my wristwatch and get new batteries on it now so that I don't have to check my phone for the time.
I think it was really powerful. I also wanted to point out that the compulsive use, or addiction to the use of the mobile devices is causing a lot of diseases. As a physician myself, I see that diabetes, endocrine diseases, thyroid diseases, and PCOS, all of these are on the rise. Younger and younger people in their twenties, and thirties are getting diabetes. That is because several things are getting missed like sleep, exercise, and social connections, family time is getting missed because of this addiction and that is causing a rise in the mental and physical health problems.

For me it was threefold, the experience was balanced. In my opinion, you guys provided not only deep knowledge but also practical tools. You moved the narrative into big thinking, big ideas, and very practical, habitual things that we all can implement. It was a really good balance and I applaud you for that. The second thing is I am also in the business of efficiency and what it reminded me of is the importance of us respecting our own time by letting others know, "I'm doing this, I don't want to be distracted". So creating those boundaries for you to be efficient, was a really good reminder. Third thing for me was a wow moment that while we were talking more about the idea of wireless devices as being our phones, but also including the TV screens in those, because I guess I'm a little bit better with the phone. But what the TV was doing to me was taking me away from the things that I should be doing. So now when I'm sitting down and taking 20 minutes break that's when I want to watch TV. I'm doing it consciously. I am deciding to take this 20 minute break, and I'm going to watch TV because that is what I want to do and not because I don't have anything else to do.
So it was that threefold balance, very deep thoughts and tips. Second, efficiency focus, creating those boundaries. And third for me personally was the TV reminder. Like if you are going to do it, you better have a good reason for what you are not doing while you are watching TV.

The space that was created by hosts and experts on Saturday was a magical space. The energy of each of you and the way you intertwined your energy and your whole space for all of us to unfold was magical. It was beyond natural skills. It was like a superpower. The other thing that was interesting for me was the whole structure and awareness that you offered to all of us. It can be translated into many different areas of our lives. By showing up in our present and being aware of how reactive we are in certain things and by being reactive, how we allow them to control us instead of us being in the drivers' seat. It's a key skill that can be applied at work, in relationships and many other places. So it doesn't end with the devices. It really starts with the devices.

Reconnect gave me the power. It reminded me that I have the power to be present and to be conscious about what's important. The event also tests me to be the messenger of the message, tests me to speak about it, to remind people to reconnect with what is important in their lives.

I came here today a little bit resistant, like most people probably my age group. Phones didn't seem like a big issue to me. But after coming here, I realized that I am super dependent on my mobile device, maybe even a little bit addicted to social media and spending way more time on things that weren't as productive or helpful to myself. And this helped me sort of deal with that and gave me the tools to be better and be more productive for my future. I'm super thankful for that. This is awesome.

Today I had the pleasure of experiencing the ReConnect Conference here in Atlanta. Everybody had so much awesome knowledge to share, everybody was so grounded in what they were saying. Not only did we learn about how our devices were affecting us, we were learning actionable advice on how to overcome those addictions and get to a better place, not only spiritually but also emotionally and overall in health. If you are considering this workshop, I highly recommend it because it is perhaps some of the best three hours you will spend making sure that you own your devices rather than your devices owning you.

I had an amazing experience at today's workshop on life-technology balance. I learned so many things and so many practical tips to implement in my day-to-day life to be able to reclaim some of the time that I'm losing unintentionally to my wireless mobile device. Dr. Gupta was amazing, Tara, Giovanni, and Saurel- great team, great presentation, and a great event. I loved it, and I recommend it to everybody.

This was a wonderful experience. It was very good from the kid’s point of view as well as from my point of view. I am a technologist developing some of these things, but I find myself getting distracted and missing out on the real values. I think your mission to give knowledge on this topic is a beautiful concept. All the best to you in the work that you are doing, and I am fully supportive of it. I would like to bring this energy into our corporate culture.

I don't use Twitter, I don't use Facebook. I don't see any news. But still, my habit, which I noticed after your session, is to just pick up the phone for nothing, checking again and then again and again. I would like to change this habit after the session. Thank you so much. It was an eye-opener. I wish you all the best. Thank You!
